His Eminence Mar Joseph Cardinal Parecattil (1 April 1912 – 20 February 1987) was an Indian prelate of the Syro Malabar Catholic Church. He served as the Archbishop of Ernakulam from 1956 to 1984, and was elevated to the Cardinalate in 1969. He was the first Cardinal from Kerala and second from India.

Cardinal Joseph Parecattil , the visionary church leader was also an eminent educationist who dedicated his life to the upliftment of society through education . As the first Indian Cardinal of the Syro-Malabar Church, he played a pivotal role in shaping spiritual and educational growth in Kerala. He firmly believed that education rooted in values is the strongest foundation for building responsible citizens. With this noble vision, he founded Cardinal High School, Thrikkakara, in 1976 to provide quality education to the younger generation. Later in 1998 the school was upgraded as a Higher Secondary School . The institution stands as a living testimony to his foresight, commitment, and love for humanity.
Cardinal Parecattil emphasized discipline, moral integrity, and intellectual excellence in all aspects of learning. He worked tirelessly for the empowerment of the marginalized through accessible and inclusive education. His leadership inspired generations of educators to serve with dedication and compassion.

The ideals he upheld continue to guide the mission and functioning of Cardinal HSS Thrikkakara.
